OfficeMax Review & Giveaway: TUL Pen Collection

TUL was launched by OfficeMax in 2006. It is the store's own brand of writing instruments and desk accessories. There is a selection of premium pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, and desk accessories, including staplers, scissors, and tape dispensers. Clever name it is - TUL = tool?! With this motto for TUL, it's easy to see why you should try out these pens to find which one fits you best. Each unique. Each designed to deliver a superior writing experience. I actually had no idea TUL was OfficeMax's store brand. So at first, I was like, well, these are good-looking pens, but they probably won't be that great (like many store brands...). ... I was wrong!

TUL Retractable Gel Pen

I'm a big fan of this pen. I love the ink's color and boldness, and how smoothly the pen writes. But my favorite part would have to be the extended grip on the barrel.The ink doesn't blob and dries super fast, so it's pretty safe for lefties. It's a solid pen and well built. The clip is plain and effective.

TUL Rollerball

The rollerball has a cool, torpedo-like design, plus a cap. I was surprised by how fast the ink dried! No smearing whatsoever here, which is often a problem with rollerballs. And despite the quick-drying ink, the ink flows smoothly and consistently.The grip is quite comfortable and offers a rubbery texture for grip.

TUL Retractable Ballpoint 

I know, I know. Ballpoints don't make your heart race anymore. This one might change your mind - a good-looking, well-designed ballpoint pen is not hard to find, but one that is both of these things, as well as comfortable to hold and doesn't blob ink and smear all over the place is hard to find. In swoops the TUL retractable ballpoint! You'll be pleasantly surprised.

TUL Marker Pen

 

The marker pen is pretty awesome. The pen design is great and functional - it's a little bit boxy and has some rubbery grip - great weight and balance. The fiber tip is sturdy and writes a sharp, precise, and smooth line. The ink doesn't feather or bleed through paper, and it is water resistant and dries very quickly.

I was pleasantly surprised by the TUL line of pens from OfficeMax. If you are skeptical about store brand pens, let TUL put your worries about OfficeMax's premium pens to rest. A great line of products without the painful premium prices. Check out another great review at From The Pen Cup!
