Clever name it is - TUL = tool?! With this motto for TUL, it's easy to see why you should try out these pens to find which one fits you best. Each unique. Each designed to deliver a superior writing experience. I actually had no idea TUL was OfficeMax's store brand. So at first, I was like, well, these are good-looking pens, but they probably won't be that great (like many store brands...). ... I was wrong!
TUL Retractable Gel Pen
I'm a big fan of this pen. I love the ink's color and boldness, and how smoothly the pen writes. But my favorite part would have to be the extended grip on the barrel. The ink doesn't blob and dries super fast, so it's pretty safe for lefties. It's a solid pen and well built. The clip is plain and effective.
TUL Rollerball
The rollerball has a cool, torpedo-like design, plus a cap. I was surprised by how fast the ink dried! No smearing whatsoever here, which is often a problem with rollerballs. And despite the quick-drying ink, the ink flows smoothly and consistently. The grip is quite comfortable and offers a rubbery texture for grip.
Available in medium and fine point.
TUL Marker Pen
The marker pen is pretty awesome. The pen design is great and functional - it's a little bit boxy and has some rubbery grip - great weight and balance. The fiber tip is sturdy and writes a sharp, precise, and smooth line. The ink doesn't feather or bleed through paper, and it is water resistant and dries very quickly.
Available in medium and fine point.

Overall
I was pleasantly surprised by the TUL line of pens from OfficeMax. If you are skeptical about store brand pens, let TUL put your worries about OfficeMax's premium pens to rest. A great line of products without the painful premium prices. Check out another great review at From The Pen Cup!

Blast. Thanks for letting me know, should be fixed now
I've always wanted to try this since I've heard good things about them in other blogs.
I don't have a Office Max close to where I live, so I haven't had to chance to take a look.
They look pretty attractive for a store brand.
I haven't loved a ballpoint pen in years. I can go either way on gel, rollerball, and felt tip pens. I think one of the most important things is that the ink is bold, dark, and doesn't glop/streak/skip/smear.
I like ballpoint.
I like gel pens.
I am a fan of gel pens at the moment.
Gels and rollerballs are usually the smoothest for me. It is too bad that OfficeMax has been disappearing from the landscape here . . .
Thanks for the mention! Wonderful review. I've never been this impressed with a "work horse" store brand. May very well order a dozen.
I can't really say that I have a favorite, though I use marker pens the most. It always depends on the paper I'm using and the look I want to achieve! Thank you for the great giveaway!
Wish there was an Office Max nearby!
I prefer gel pens for the darker line, but prefer a micropoint one.
I love TUL - the only thing I find is the gel tend to go dry rather quickly.
TUL pens look amazing! Rollerball and Gel pens are my favorite.
I actually like fountain pens best, but after that, rollerballs.
I love TUL pens!
Gel pens are my favorite because the ink comes out so smoothly and generously! :)
pretty good looking.
I want to know when they are going to come out with gift sets. Stainless steel, chrome, painted barrels etc. I love these pens, but I really like fancier pen barrels. Heard anything about the chances of those coming out? Great review by the way!!! Love the way you did it!
Good question, but now that OfficeMax and OfficeDepot are merging, I haven't a clue what the fate of these OfficeMax pens are - I hadn't heard of any new products to the line as of before the merger...!
