Review: Pentel EnerGize-X Mechanical Pencil 0.7mm - Light Green

This pretty pencil is a Pentel EnerGize-X 0.7mm mechanical pencil in light green. Thank you to Pentel for making this review possible!

Cute pencil.
Features
  • Companion to the EnerGel-X® (BLN105/BL107/BL110) roller gel pen
  • Attractive color-tinted barrels
  • Comes with a cap to keep your eraser clean
  • Maximum comfort and control with the latex-free grip
  • Pre-loaded with Pentel® Super Hi-Polymer® HB lead; never needs sharpening, is super strong and produces a clear dark line
  • Available Barrel Colors: Black, Blue, Light Green, Pink, Sky Blue and Violet
I am particularly attracted to this pencil because it has the same great, simple design of a Pentel EnerGel-X gel pen. It's just a different color, and in my opinion, far more attractive looking than the green of the gel pen.

Side profile... purrrrr.

Family resemblance!
The pencil has awesome, comfortable grip that truly improves my grip when I hold it. I love writing with this pencil because my grip just feels so perfect on it! The lead is fantastic, the eraser is refillable - although a little small - and has an adorable little cap to protect it.

My favorite part!

Yes, you do spy a new pack on the left. I wonder what I'll do with those...Keep an eye on this blog in the upcoming weeks...
So far, the grip has not become soiled in my pencil case and it's been in there for about a year, being tossed around with its pen and pencil friends. It's still looking good so it's pretty hardy so far.

I tried to draw something less atrocious than the cat in the previous writing sample. These were great to draw - I could use a sharp piece of the lead or the blunt piece to shade. I had a great time attempting these.
I love that this pencil is part of Pentel's Recycology program, containing 84% recycled plastic. Better than nothing, right?

Overall
I love the look of the Pentel EnerGize-X 0.7mm mechanical pencil, especially in the light green barrel. It's great to write with in terms of comfort, and if you refill it with the Pentel® Super Hi-Polymer® HB lead, you'll have a wonderful writing experience. Come on. It's way cooler than those 50 packs of Bic mechanical pencils you can buy, isn't it??

Is the Pentel Graphgear comfortable?
great review as always, but my favorite part it the tree drawing :)

The Kuru Toga? I was pretty surprised that I liked this one so much. I am partial to it because it's cute though lol. The grip is really comfy too.

The GraphGear is very nice, but a bit heavy. I don't draw with pencils very often so the amount of time I use it is comfortable. It is however a very cool pencil hehe. I'll have to review that soon!

You like my tree?? Yaaay! I kind of like it too for once!

ya i know (i've got a ton of the energel pens) so its similar grip but i am just partial to the kuru toga. Oh btw do you have the alloy energel? i should review mine....

How does it compare to the Papermate clearpoint? That's my favorite pencil because I can get both .5 and .7 and the eraser refill is HUGE (well, in comparison to most click pencils). Plus, they're readily available (well, unless you're way out in rural Amish country like I used to be... when I lived there, I had to order all the fun or even basic office supplies if I didn't want crap quality.

Nooo but I have eyed it many times!! tend to prefer glossy colors over matte though. It's a matte silver right? I think..

I'm personally a big fan of the PaperMate Clearpoint as well. I've had both my 0.5 and 0.7 for many years and agreed, LOVE the huge eraser!! I think the Pentel is more comfortable though. They both write equally well (though lead quality can affect that) but I prefer the grip on the Pentel here. Plus the grip section is slightly thinner. But that of course will vary depending on your grip :)

no its not matte.. well maybe it is slightly? anyway i have a pink one.. they also have black

My bad. I must be thinking of something else. I though they had a matte silver. Pink is ALWAYS nice lol
