Review: Sailor Jentle Grenade Ink

I had a sample of Sailor Jentle Grenade and as I came near the end of it, I knew I had to get a bottle of it. I picked up this bottle at Goldspot Pens with a blogger discount that I very much appreciate! Thank you Goldspot!

    OVERALL

Sailor's Jentle Grenade fountain pen ink is a great red ink - it's not bright red nor is it too dark to recognize as red. It has an incredible sheen and great properties otherwise. Very decent price. Highly recommended.

Although I received a small blogger discount to purchase this ink, I was not paid for my opinion or to write this review. These opinions are 100% my own!

    1. Really nice review. I've never seen the sheen on that ink, but the Lamy I have it in is a little on the dry side (and that makes it a little ho-hum). Maybe I should try it out in something wetter to get the full effect.

What do you use to do the saturation demonstration? You've got such sharp edges on them, and it looks clean.

    2. I really like Sailor inks. I am willing to complete my collection :) And this is a great review! I am asshamed to say, I did not notice this sheen until I saw your post, even though I used this ink for a week.

    3. You forgot to tell us what it tastes like Azizah :-)

Seriously though, I too recently bought some of this and put it in my TWSBI VAC 700 with the 1.5mm Stub nib, and you can, like, draw red ribbons! Lovely! So then I got some of the Epinard (green, obviously) and now I can do green ribbons too! The colours are very rich and a pleasure to use.

    4. That green sheen totally sold me on this ink. I love inks with a sheen and looks like Sailor has some beautiful inks in this aspect (hello Sky High~). Thank you for reminding me that I need to get out the sample y recently got of this :)

    10. I have epinard inked up in my 1.1 TWSBI now :) Samers!! Sailor makes lovely inks. I looooove the smell of them. Unfortunately, they taste a bit rusty.

    11. Hehehe hey sometimes you have to see it at the right angle. It's hard to notice if the lighting isn't right. No shame, just go use it again and look out for it!

    12. Thank you Mike! Definitely the wetter the pen, the more you will see the sheen. The saturation block was done with a Pilot Parallel 6.0 mm - the sheen on the third layer is awesome.

    13. I just inked this up yesterday in a Kaweco Sport, so far so good. It's almost like a mix of Oxblood and Rouge Hematite. The only thing is that it may be slightly too pink for me. Great ink though!

    15. Never too late to join :) I hope you stocked up since Sailor has just discontinued this ink and Apricot! Apparently there is a similar colour to this one in their new series but just to be safe, it's always good to have one or two in your stock :) Apricot is one of my absolute favourites!
