Dallas Pen Show 2013 Goodies

Hey there! This weekend was the Dallas Pen Show and I made it out on Saturday (though I really wish I could have made it on Friday too because one day was most certainly not enough). This won't be a show recap though, just a goodies recap. And I was COMPLETELY reasonable, seriously. It's almost scary how reasonable I was...

Here we have the goods!

I thought this pen was hideous. It still kind of is. But when I saw it in person, I couldn't resist it. Popped a broad nib on it while hanging around at the Anderson Pens row of tables and that's the pen I had to have (and the only one I could afford, really).

The Palomino pencil is a SOFT. Oh I cannot wait to sharpen it! Thanks Tiffany! The Stipula Calamo ink is Florentine Red and I also picked that up at the Anderson Pens ink corner. There is also the Mermaid and Damselfish by Scribal Workshop inks, and Noodler's Blue Steel, made for Dromgoole's.

The cat card... is from a truck stop. I think it captures my love of cats and sampling ink. Don't you?

Unbelievable calligraphy. I'm sure you can all guess who wrote this... Watching Michael Sull write this was incredible. I'll include a video in my pen show recap.

Sounds fun. I have yet to attend a major show so I'm a bit jealous. I have never warmed up to the whole Lamy Safari line, I own one but just don't pick it up often. I do love their marketing approach of the wild colors and generating collectible interest. Enjoy!

Wow, you really WERE reasonable!!! :-)

love that Sull script!!! (envy) - and I have one of those Lamy's too - it's bright but it works (my second favourite after the lime LE)

I love the cat card...yeah, that's you drinking ink. Looking forward to a review of the inks.

Blue Steel? I don't know that one! Dromgoole's is a great store, and I have the Texas Bluebonnet ink from them, but I'm excited to see Blue Steel. Lisa told me I should try Damselfish, but I'm dubious about Scribal Workshop's inks. I kinda hated the ones I tried.

But you actually made the neon lamy look pretty good! I am hesitant about buying it (well, I guess I will, before it's rolled out next year) because I am afraid that the lighter/neon combo will stain while it's in my messy bag (well, the apple green from last year already kind of did).

Great haul Azizah! I wish I had picked up that Blue Steel. I have the same Lamy inked with the Pelikan highligher ink. Can't wait to read the show recap and all the ink reviews. It was nice to see you and say hi.

Isn't it amazing?? The video is pretty cool too.

The Lamy.. I seriously thought it would be hideous. It is in a way. But in a hideously lovely way. Hehe

LOLOL I think I have to copy the card and make it into my new banner.

I believe Noodler's made it for Dromgoole's for the show...? I'm not entirely sure. They seem to have a lot of Noodler's exclusives.

I shall check out Damselfish ASAP, now I'm curious!

Thanks! I thought it was a great picture of it - really captured its glow! I figured it was inevitable I'd own it though. But I quite like it. Your green one stained?? What on earth stained it?

Thank you! Don't get me wrong, there were many other things I wanted but I had to stay very reasonable (boourns). Brian and Lisa made that difficult with all the goodies they had...

It was a pleasure to meet you in person :)

Ohhhh Dallas is a great show, not that I have any others to compare it to. But both times I have been, I have had a wonderful time. Especially this time.

I hear ya about the Safaris - it seems that some people are crazy about them and others are just indifferent. I'm a sucker for the colours :)

I admit, I partly bought my Neon Safari because it was cheap ($20!) and I wanted to try out a fine nib for a change. I like putting really vivid, contrasting colors in it, like Baystate Blue or Yama-Budo. Fun!

I forgot that I had made this comment, but I've got Blue Steel and I've tried Damselfish. I like Blue Steel, but I really don't like damselfish at all.
