Serious Nibbage Part 11: Kaweco Sport Skyline @Kaweco @sbrebrown

SBRE Brown and I talk about about the Kaweco Sport Skyline fountain pen. Is this pen serious nibbage?

Check out SBRE Brown's review of the Kaweco Sport fountain pen.
I have reviewed the AC Sport Carbon Black, the Calligraphy Sport set, and the AL-Sport in black.

  1. Is it serious nibbage? Seriously? It's fun and flexible but I don't really think it's serious nibbage. As always, love the review.

  2. Thanks for the review! I've been looking at that very pen. The mint color looks sweet. You mentioned that you swapped out the nib with a 1.5mm, so I Googled replacement nibs. Since the replacement seems to come with more than just the nib and feed, and since that extra plastic piece (I can't remember the proper name for it) doesn't seem to come in many colors besides black and white, can I assume that you ordered the full assembly, and then pulled the nib and feed from that assembly and inserted them into your existing assembly? I've never owned a Kaweco, so I'm not familiar with how that would work.

  3. Well, I think for folks who are not in the price range of hundreds of dollars, it certainly is serious nibbage. Lots of nib options, lots of colours, portable, cute, affordable, robust. Have received many requests for pens in the sub $100 range, but that doesn't mean those ones aren't great pens too :) ... I'd still pick my M400 over this. ... Or M1005. ...

  4. That's exactly what I did :) I have the black calligraphy set, and just pulled the nib and feed out of the section (which is the extra plastic bit you're referring to) and put it into the Skyline. It's easy peasy.

  5. Thanks again! That pen is now at the top of my list. It's just so cute! :-)

The only time I saw that pen in person (well, not that exact color, but same basic model), I was a little disappointed by how tiny it was for my slightly larger than average hands. But as you guys demonstrated, once it's posted, it should be OK. And if it's a good writer, we'll get along fine. The fact that you can swap out nibs easily, makes it that much more appealing to me.
