P.W. Akkerman Bekakt Haags Ink
To mark our 100 years of existence, PW Akkerman introduced in 2010 his own ink line. This ink’s came in large 150 ml bottles, these large bottles are now completely sold out. Due to the worldwide success of this unique bottle we decided to continue, but now with a smaller sized bottle with a content of ca 60 ml. The new bottles will be available in the same 31 colors as before.
The Akkerman inks have been given names related to the city The Hague. For example: KoninginneNach-Blauw, Binnenhof Blues, Shocking Blue, Parkpop Purper or/and Rood Haags Pluch.P.W. Akkerman Bekakt Haags is a delectable, chocolatey brown that shows some shading and is tasty to use. It is one of my preferred brown inks because it has the warm tones that I like in a spot of brown ink. I'm ignoring the really cool bottle because that just seems unfair. I love the color, I love the sheen. It is a fantastic brown.
Price: € 15,00
Where to buy: P.W. Akkerman (a few US retailers also carry this ink but this is the direct source)

Cult Pens Diamine Deep Dark Red Ink
Cult Pens has a line up of Diamine Deep Dark inks - and they are deep and dark. Very fair price, good value in my humble opinion, and the colors are definitely saturated. They are heavy on the cleaning and maintenance because of the saturation but they also have a lot of sheen and character, if that is something you look for.
Diamine Deep Dark Red is bloody cool. I like the deeper aspect of this red as opposed to a bright, fresh-blood kind of red. This one is just a bit more mysterious and does not risk going into the zone of pink inks or washed-out reds or rubies. As with all reds, it is a bit more work to clean, but the color and saturation are worth it.

Taccia Kaku-tate vs. Nakaya Decapod Fountain Pens
Comparing the Taccia Kaku-tate Wide Stripe Aquarium fountain pen with two Nakaya Decapods (one regular, one twist) to show you the differences in the pens, Urushi, and changes over time. Oh, and the nibs just for fun. Hope you enjoy! That's a lot of serious nibbage and a lot of Urushi.
